Moon by Nina Winter, August 1973

I took with me to bed last night

The moon

Thigh touching thigh

His luminous cheek on mine

Lips unmoving

Our faces conversed

In the dark

The mist of his breath

In my dreaming ear

My fingers asleep on his neck

His cold hair covered my eyes

While the body made round mine

A liquid fortress

A sheep cried in the night

A raccoon stirred

And several times I woke

To make sure he was really there

But some time in the night

A disappearing love

He drew the quilt around me

And transient

Stole away
